Daniel Cummins

Ray Cummins has proven his descent from Loyalist Daniel Cummins who along with his wife and five children, left their home in Sussex County, New Jersey and settled in Flamborough Township in 1795. Later they re-located to Ancaster Township. Daniel’s family, particularly his son, David from whom Ray is descended, founded the village of Millgrove. Arriving in 1826, David and his wife, Margaret worked with other pioneers to clear the land and a small settlement was established. The several mills located along the creek in the area led to the naming of the village.
