Christian Warner

Christian Warner was born in Albany County, New York. At the outset of the War, he joined General Burgoyne’s army, but was taken prisoner at Saratoga after Burgoyne was captured. After being imprisoned for three months, he joined Butler’s Rangers, and served as a Sergeant until the end of the war. He came to British North America in 1783 with his wife and two young daughters who travelled in baskets on the back of a cow. He built the Warner Meeting House that was the first Methodist church west of the Bay of Quinte. He died in 1833.
