John Shaver was born in Germany and then lived in New Jersey where he took up the Loyalist cause and joined The King\u2019s Royal Regiment of New York, Butler\u2019s Rangers. After the war he settled in Ancaster on what is now Garner Road. The first known house was built on the site in 1830.
