John Snyder and Thomas Mulloy

John Snyder came from Dutchess County, New York and joined Sir John Johnson’s Corps in The King’s Royal Regiment of New York.  His daughter Lavinia married Thomas Mulloy who had served with the British Volunteers under the command of Captain Joseph Brant and then joined Sir John Johnson’s Loyalist settlement of Catholic Highlanders along the St.Lawrence. The couple moved to Centreville, Ontario, located just north west of Bolton. The Centreville Primitive Methodist Cemetery is where some family members are buried; it is in poor condition. Another descendent of John Snyder and Thomas Mulloy is Sir Frederick Banting, the discoverer of insulin, who is Bob’s great-uncle.
